Ending Child Labour supports enjoyment of children’s right

Our member, Humana People to People Botswana, is responding to high prevalence of child labour in Gantsi and Tsabong regions of Botswana, where child labour is prevalent, with some being exploited at farms or other types of  child labour.

Nearly 1 in 10 children are subjected to child labour worldwide, with some forced into hazardous work. Child labour can result in bodily harm, death, sexual violations, economic exploitation and human trafficking of children under the age of 18 among other violations.

Humana People to People Botswana is engaging parents, community leaders, potential employers and other interested parties in raising awareness and taking an active role in reversing child labour. A shared concern to address child labour was a center of focus at an event attended by community members, children, Botswana’s Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Annah Mokgethi, US Embassy officials in Botswana and Humana People to People Botswana staff.
