We are proud to announce that we are participating at #ICASA2023. This year’s conference is being held in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 4 – 9 December 2023 under the theme, “AIDS IS NOT OVER: Address inequalities, accelerate inclusion and innovation.”
We got an opportunity to present our work to UNAIDS Executive Director and Under-Secretary-General, Dr. Winnie Byanyima on how we are supporting southern African countries in achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets to end AIDS by 2030.
Dr. Winnie Byanyima continues to remind everyone about the crucial role of communities and that institutions should work together to make a real impact.
Women are key in the fight and eradication of HIV, TB, malaria and HIV. But the burden should not just be on them, as men must join, learn and call for change and dispel stereotypes.
We also had discussions together with Mr. M Ngombo from the Ministry of Health Botswana and Dr. Nanki Ramabu from Bostwana Christian Health and AIDS Intervention Programme (BOCHAIP) at our stand talking about integrating HIV and eliminating stigma discrimination.
It is important to educate the next generation, equip and empower them to eradicate HIV and AIDS and to ensure that everyone can live a good life, in line with the SDG goals by the United Nations.
The fight is not over, so communities, stakeholders and civil society must continue to work together placing the vulnerable at the core of all policies and ensure that it benefits everyone.
At ICASA 2023 we continue to stress that our focus is on the people and not the disease as we equip people and communities with the knowledge and tools to take control of their own health.
